Meet the Founder
Mindy McWilliams developed a passion for typing from her very first typing class in junior high. She set a school record, received high accolades from her teacher, and volunteered to type the school newspaper. Eventually, she received a B.S. degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and Mindy put typing on the back burner.
In her mid-20s, Mindy changed careers to become a meeting and convention planner. As a Certified Meeting Professional, she excelled at the logistics required to manage large events. After taking 11 years off to raise her three boys, a college friend suggested she consider becoming a broadcast captioner. Because the two-to-four-year training seemed daunting at age 44, Mindy opted to train as a TypeWell transcriber instead.
Mindy enjoyed being onsite at colleges, providing communication access to D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students! After 18 months, she needed a steadier job with benefits, so she joined the communications office of the local school system. After four years, she missed transcribing so much that she took a refresher course, then reached out to her previous company for evening work. That led to a position on their administrative team in the Speech-to-Text department, where she quickly advanced to oversee the department, managing dozens of transcribers and scheduling over 300 events weekly.
After a restructuring in 2024 left her without a job, Mindy decided it was the perfect time to start her own agency, fueled by her passion of speech-to-text services and her can-do attitude.
Mindy is also a Senior Olympian, holding two power walking records in Maryland and earning a bronze medal in the 1500-meter power walking event at the National Senior Games in 2023. She also competes in pickleball, volleyball and softball. Mindy enjoys hand-pouring candles, crafting soaps, and gardening. Mindy has an amazing partner, Jack, three adult sons, a rescue dog named Herc, and a granddog named Buddy.
